Explore Like a Local on Transit

Visiting Utah doesn’t have to mean navigating unfamiliar roads, paying for parking, or relying on expensive rideshares to get around.

From the moment you arrive, UTA can help you explore the Wasatch Front like a local. Whether you’re headed to downtown Salt Lake, a concert in Ogden, or a weekend adventure in Provo, transit helps you experience more of what Utah has to offer.

And honestly, some of the best parts of exploring happen during the ride itself — watching the mountains pass by on FrontRunner, strolling through downtown without worrying about parking, hopping off transit to discover a coffee shop or hidden gem you would have otherwise missed.

Before starting your trip, check out UTA’s Plan Your Trip page for route information, schedules, fares, and everything you need to ride confidently. UTA also partners with Transit app, making it simple to pay your fare and navigate while you explore.

Your Adventure Starts the Moment You Land

Exploring Utah without a car is easier than many visitors expect.

Both Salt Lake International Airport and Provo Airport connect directly to transit, so you can start exploring shortly after you arrive. Whether you’re headed downtown, to a hotel, or toward the mountains, UTA provides convenient connections throughout the region.

Instead of figuring out rental cars, parking garages, and rideshares, you can hop on transit and start your trip stress-free.

Visiting during ski season? UTA Ski Bus connects riders to ski resorts in Ogden, Salt Lake Valley, and Provo so you can enjoy the mountains without navigating winter driving or canyon parking.

Salt Lake City and Downtown

Downtown Salt Lake City is one of the easiest places to explore using transit.

Much of downtown falls within UTA’s Free Fare Zone, allowing you to ride TRAX and select bus routes at no cost within the area. It’s a simple way to move between downtown destinations without needing a car.

You will also find several Go Routes throughout the city. These high-frequency routes, supported by Salt Lake City, arrive every 15 minutes or less, so you can just show up and go. Many local favorites are located directly along these routes — hop on and discover somewhere new.

If your destination is just a little too far from a transit stop, GREENbike can help bridge the gap. Utah’s nonprofit bike share program has stations located near many TRAX and FrontRunner stations, helping you continue your adventure once you hop off transit.

Provo to Ogden

UTA connects communities across the entire Wasatch Front, making it easy to explore far beyond Salt Lake City.

FrontRunner runs along an 83-mile corridor, connecting riders to destinations from Ogden to Provo.

In Ogden, OGX is Zero Fare and provides bus rapid transit service connecting Ogden Central Station to Historic 25th Street and destinations throughout the city. Our partners at Visit Ogden share great recommendations for making the most of your visit.

Further south, UVX in Utah County connects riders throughout Provo and Orem, making it easy to experience university life and everything surrounding it. Our friends at Explore Utah Valley share even more ideas for exploring the area.

Beyond the Wasatch Front

Looking to continue your adventure beyond the Wasatch Front? UTA can help with that too.

Salt Lake Central Station connects directly to High Valley Transit, helping riders travel toward destinations like Park City and surrounding communities in the Wasatch Back. It is another way transit helps connect visitors to even more of what Utah has to offer.

Make Getting There Part of the Experience

Throughout the year, we host Fun In Transit events designed to celebrate riders and create memorable experiences along the way. We also have self-guided date night and art crawl guides for whenever you’re in the mood for a transit adventure.

Heading to a concert, festival, sporting event, or other local experience? UTA partners with select venues and events through our Ticket As Fare program, where your event ticket can also serve as your transit pass — just one more way to spend less time worrying about traffic and more time enjoying the event itself.

Even if your event is not part of Ticket As Fare, our Event Service page can help you find routes and schedules for many popular destinations across the Wasatch Front. Visit the page to learn more about upcoming events and how transit can help you get there — because sometimes the ride to dinner, the concert, or the game becomes the part of the experience you remember most.

Explore More, Stress Less

Whether you are visiting for a weekend getaway or simply exploring somewhere new, transit helps you experience Utah differently.

Less time worrying about parking. Less stress navigating unfamiliar roads. More time discovering the new places, people, and moments that make the Wasatch Front special.

So hop on board UTA, take the scenic route, and explore Utah like a local.

We Move Adventure. We Move You.
